gonzo christmas cheer.

Last night, we made an exciting purchase. We bought the most exciting Christmas movie on earth: The Muppet Christmas Carol. If you haven't figured it out yet, this film just happens to be our favorite Christmas movie. This ends up being so for a number of very solid reasons...

1. It's the Muppets. Nuh said.
2. A Christmas Carol is a SOLID Christmas story. And it has such a good ending!
3. Michael Caine is in it! Michael Caine is in a MUPPET MOVIE!
4. The Great Gonzo rules.

Anyway, for us, this means it is now OFFICIALLY the Christmas season.

Merry Christmas. :-)

  1. That's actually my favourite version of A Christmas Carol. And Michael Caine is awesome in that movie. I think I should go out and buy it on DVD too.

  2. They have the first season of the Muppet Show on DVD now...I'm hoping Santa drops it off this year :-)

I've been reading your blog for the last few days and have really enjoyed it!

  3. For me it's a Charlie Brown Christmas, just something about that sound track always makes me think of Christmas.

Of course every Christmas morning the wife and I watch the Grinch (the original or course)

A Muppet Christmas Carol? Daveberta, you're one liberla weenie, LOL!

  4. The Muppets are coming back to TV. It's going to be one of those stupid reality shows where puppet designers compete by pitching their ideas for a new muppet character. Sounds pretty lame but better than no muppets at all I guess.

My fav Christmas movie is "29th Street" with Danny Aiello. Not many people know about it but it's funny and is a very touching father/son story. It's not for little kids though.

  5. I watched the Muppet's Christmas Carol with my kids on Sunday night. It is a fantastic movie. Wierdly true to the book. Caine plays Scrooge without a hint of irony. It had humour for adults and for kids.

    Great stuff!

But my three picks for fave Christmas movies in no particular order:

    1) A Charlie Brown Christmas
    2) It's a Wonderful Life
    3) The Nightmare Before Christmas.

  6. I watch it every year - it absolutely kills me ("even the vegetables don't like him!")... of course, it takes away time from spreading evil...

  7. well, we're glad to see that we aren't the only one's who love this wonderful movie. We're trying to track down the soundtrack on DVD... we tried A&B Sound, Megatunes, Blackbird Music, and no luck.

    Maybe HMV will have it...
