ReplyDeleteHE LOST!!! :-)
ReplyDelete"Also, four new "Cabinet Policy Committees" were created in place of the Tory caucus-only Standing Policy Committees... will there be a difference?"
ReplyDeleteYou bet there'll be a difference. Say goodbye to any sort of power the backbenchers had under Klein.
tommy,
ReplyDeleteBackbenchers had power under Klein?
Pass me some of what you are smoking.
Ok, let's see here...
ReplyDeleteWe have the following new ministries:
The Ministry of Employment, Immigration and Industry,
The Ministry of International, Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Relations.
The Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Recreation and Culture.
Could we possible have any dumber and more long-winded names? It seems like Ed's tendency to verbally ramble has transferred directly into the naming of his cabinent posts. How dissapointing.
The general idea behind "shrinking" cabinent as a new leader is to make things seem simple, lean, focused and sharp. With these idiotically huge rambling names, we can expect more of the same uselessness that has plagued the PC governments of late.
Well what would YOU call the Ministry of Tourism etc: the Ministry of Vacation? The Ministry of Feel-Good Time? Instead of the ministry of intergovernmental etc. you could have the Ministry of Yakety-yak. (ok i guess they could ALL be that ministry). nevertheless you can't extrapolate from the dept designation how effective a dept will be. Sadly gov't efficiency will always be determined by individuals. Hopefully Ed's niceness will trickle down... it could happen.
ReplyDeleteIntergovernmental Affairs could become the "Ministry of Ottawa should give us more money"
ReplyDeletegotta shorten the name tho: Ministry of Gimme Gimme should do nicely.. and is so multipurpose.
ReplyDeleteIntergovernmental Affairs could become the "Ministry of Ottawa should give us more money"
ReplyDeleteNot to nitpick or anything, but it would actually be "Ministry of Ottawa should take less of our money."

ReplyDeleteThis is sort of cool.
When will they announce who gets the cabinet positions?
ReplyDeleteI don't know but I think Daveberta should get one...
ReplyDeleteAll hail the new Minister of Blogging.
