On his last day in the legislature chamber before retiring later this year, Klein did something he has rarely done in 14 years as premier: admit his Liberal and NDP critics were right when they argued his Conservative government did not properly prepare for the boom and the pressures it has caused.
"The opposition was right in their criticism, but as I said, no one could anticipate the phenomenal growth that took place, or the quickness of that growth," Klein told reporters.

It's sad that we had to wait until his retirement to hear him utter the words "the opposition was right," but it was still music to my ears.

ReplyDeleteHey, I'm far from a Ralph fan but it still takes balls to admit that the opposition was right. Many politicians take remorse to the grave, Klein admitted to being mistaken which is quite a feat for him. He gets a pat on the back from me.

ReplyDeleteKlein would have displayed these mythical "balls" only if he admitted the opposition was right when it mattered--in other words, when the opposition raised the issue. Instead, lies, spin, and partisan propaganda. 14 years of that on repeat--and then, on the way out the door, "oh, hey, about the future... yeah, the Opposition was right--we don't know what the fuck we're doing!"... is not "balls".
