mla laurie blakeman on alberta liberal staff layoffs.

Edmonton-Centre MLA Laurie Blakeman answered questions this morning about the recent decision to lay-off the entire staff at the Alberta Liberal Party:

This morning's media conference held to launch the Official Opposition's budget2009.ca website, which asks Albertans to submit questions for Opposition Liberal MLAs to use during the budget debates in the Legislature.

  1. Good work on the video, Dave.

Frustrating, though. Every time a member of the Liberal Caucus utters something to the effect of "I don't think Albertans realize" I just roll my eyes.

As long as they continue to think that it's "Albertans" who don't understand, they will never be able to solve their problem.

  2. Gauntlet is absolutely right. The fact that they are using such patronizing language even while discussing their own collapse shows that they are incapable of the change they need.

    It's time for a new centre-left movement.

  3. All Albertans want is to back a winner, same way they pick their hockey teams. And it's more about the team colours and city of origin than it is about policy or issues. They also don't want to rock the boat, so Molson swillin' jersey wearin', dirt bike drivin' Nickelback-loyalist weekend warriors let the alpha males in their herd dominate the rap.

Fact is, 'Albertans' have been trained to react when they hear the 'L' word, which is indicative of the success coffee shop harangues by aggressive hayseed pundits have had on eavesdropping tradesmen the last 40 years -- and let us not forget the church newsletter...

The provincial Liberals aren't any more patronizing than the party in power, c'mon -- can't you do better than that?
