Seriously folks, at what point did the Government of Canada main website become a propaganda page for the Conservative Party of Canada?
If I wanted PMO press releases shoved down my throat, I'd go to his site, not the main Government site.

I guess we thought that following the Paul Martin communications strategy might not be a smart move ;)
ReplyDeleteActually, I remember looking a few weeks ago, and the content on the Conservative party website, the PMO website and the government of Canada website were exactly the same. Actually, a few of the links on the government of Canada site were direct links to the PMO website.
ReplyDeleteWe live in interesting times... Ministry of truth anyone?
My first reaction was horror. But, in ways, I think it is good because it reveals a lot about how different things really are under this government. It's THEIR Canada.
ReplyDeleteI am going to explore the site more and see if there are more signs of changes throughout.
Holy crap! At least it's a whole lot more "jazzy" that it used to be. Photos! Colour! Mambo stylin's! Red leaves everywhere!
ReplyDeleteThis is truly frightening. The similarity between this site and the CPC site is far more than simple coincidence.
ReplyDeleteAlso, just how many photos of Stephen Harper can you have on the government of canada main webpage anyways - I counted five. This is a campaign website. These bastards are scary - I hope all the morons and sheep who voted CPC realize how much they fucked up this country. God help us all.
It would seem more Canadian if there was a picture of Pierre Trudeau on there. By Canadian, I mean, Ontarian/Quebecois.
ReplyDeleteNow that the Harpercrits have boosted the sales of the scientist's fiction book "Hotter Than Hell," I wonder how sales of "1984" are doing?
ReplyDeleteWe better all brush up on our Newspeak and Big Brother.
A similar biased appearence could be observed when Paul Martin was running the circus.

ReplyDeleteFreedom of the press was always such a pain in the ass anyways, eh? Thank gawd for Stephen Harper! ;)
Too bad the Libs have decided to hold such a long leadership contest, so we have to endure this crap for at least eight more months...
No, people here aren't the least bit bitter...
ReplyDeletebitter? no. Just a little shocked at how fast a website that has existed as a source for citizens to check out government services became a party propaganda machine.
ReplyDeleteCompare
ReplyDeletethese archives of the Government of Canada site with these archives of the Liberal Party of Canada site.
There's no question that the current situation is vastly different. Vastly.
When Harper said he had a problem with Liberals covertly using government resources to support their party's political objectives, I thought the operative word was "government." Evidently, it was "covertly."
As long as you're brazen about it, it's OK.
