As Albertans are now being urged to respond online and by phone to Alberta's Royalty Review Report, Tory Minister Ron Stevens will be meeting in closed-door consultation meetings with Energy and Oil Companies for their very own private consultation.
Wouldn't it be great if all Albertans had the chance to have a closed-door consultation on the Royalty Review Report?
Wouldn't it be great if all Albertans called their MLA to set up a closed-door consultation meeting?
Sounds like a good idea to me.
If you have a Tory MLA, you can ask them where Albertans $8.6 Billion in uncollected royalties went.

You could also ask them if they support the recommendations.
ReplyDeleteYou could also ask that of Liberal MLAs.
Didn't the Alberta Liberals dismiss this report before it was even written because its authors were supposedly biased towards big oil?
ReplyDeleteSounds to me like Team Taft doesn't have much of a leg to stand on here.
Nearly everyone dismissed the review committee before it released the report, which was why the report was so shocking when it came out that the results were what they were.
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a lot of *mother knows best* being talked about with the review recommendations, but I believe that decisions on an issue like royalties on natural resources is not something that should be done lightly especially during a boom period like Alberta is currently in.
Should royalties be raised? Absolutely, but common sense should prevail. Discussions and consultations should be had. I don't blame any of our leaders for taking their time in analyzing an issue of this much importance.
Parties like the Wild Rose Party and the NDP had already made up their minds about the report and because they are small parties, they don't have to worry about the consequences of their criticisms.
Stelmach and Taft are making the right choice by pondering on the consequences of this report and I look forward to hearing what they both have to say about it.
The questions still remains: Who will pay for the $8.6 BILLION in royalties owed to Albertans that weren't collected.
ReplyDeleteWho will pay for the gross incompetence that has occurred in the Tory Government over the past 15 years that led to this?
The buck stops at the top.
ED STELMACH IS NOT A LEADER!
ED STELMACH IS NOT A LEADER!
ReplyDelete"Our Fair Share" not only from resources that belong to the citizens of this province but also from our government. It seems like governments always look to solve thier own short comings(not just a couple bucks here but billions in wasted expenditures. Premier Stelmach you are part of a government that has in fact itself been complacent and sqaundered billions of our tax dollars...your solution solution - let's convince the hard working tax payer of this province that we are not getting our "Fair Share" from the big oils companies. Let's not discuss how our provinical government that collects these huge sums of monies then turns around and wastes billions....nope no accountability just typical retoric from a typical politician - we need more from oil companies then what? will you need more user fees? yes user fees a form of tax to sustain our infrastucture, schools and medical systems, let's keep passing the buck Mr. Stelmach but we will still hold you accounatble for the past sins of your party you cannot distance yourself from this. I believe that whatever the impact of your recent convictions about Alberta's future and we need our FAIR SHARE will eventually decide your fate and the electorate will have an opportunity to present a clear voice that will either validate what you have said all along " albertans want thier fair share" or we will have an opportunity to share with you how we really feel we want our fair share from our government that includes accountability to control the billions you misspend before passing the buck onto the backs of the companies that drive this econmoy and the backs of it's tax payers. I wish you the best in a future election my vote of confidence is not with you as a future leader of this province.
