elizabeth may allowed to join old white boys debate club?

If so, it's good news...
The political path has been cleared for Elizabeth May to participate in the televised leaders debates after first NDP Leader Jack Layton and minutes later Conservative Leader Stephen Harper withdrew threats to boycott.

  1. Terrific! I am looking forward to a Green voice at the debate.

  2. I think the fact the the New Democratic Party has previously been led by Audrey McLaughlan and Alexa McDonough (both of whom were in Federal Leader's Debates) blunts the 'sexist' connotation of the leaders being 'old white boys' ... AT LEAST AS IT RELATES TO THE NDP!

    Cheers!

  3. So now 40% of the debate is going to be wasted air instead of only 25%...great...

  4. Is there a particular reason that May needs to join just because she is, as some wag noted, a middle aged white woman instead of a middle aged white male?

If the only people worthy of being present at the debate are white men, then that's exactly who should be present.

If Elizabeth May can participate, why can't Ron Gray?

  5. Feynman and Coulter's Love Child, May has as much support as the NDP stastically, without having nearly as much financial resources or name recognition. That's why.

  6. Okay, so May and the Greens have never:

A: Been elected, or elected a member, federally or provincially.
B: Formed a provincial or territorial government.
C: Come within striking distance of electing, um, ANYBODY.
    D: All of the above.

I don't know. I could take or leave Elizabeth May... but the TV networks should leave her. In a word... Irrelevant! And five leaders on a debate? C'mon... too much. Let the Greens elect first, debate later. An late converting MP after a year as an independent does not a Green MP make.
